Ann English

Ann English has over 25 years experience working in the design, display, retail and event industry. During this time Ann has worked with the ‘BIG 3′ – Santa, Willy Wonka and Mickey Mouse! Ann started her career creating window displays for The Body Shop. She then went on to design and install over 500 Christmas Displays and Santa’s Grottos in all the major shopping centres throughout the UK and Europe including intu Metrocentre, Eldon Square and Disneyland Paris. Her claim to fame is that she designed and created the much-loved Metrognomes! In 2005 Ann co-founded Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, a niche luxury chocolate fountain company. For 10 years they provided the ultimate chocolate experience for events, weddings and special occasions across the region’s luxury 4 and 5 star hotels. As a Creative Consultant, Ann provides business development support to North East SME’s and creative agencies. Working alongside the Directors at Trapeze Creative, Ann repositioned the company to take advantage of a gap in the market and secured £1million in new contracts. Ann’s marketing and client services skills have been employed by Paul Windle Design, one of the world’s leading creative art studios, who work with the likes of The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. The focus was to increase brand awareness and gain new customers. As a direct result of Ann’s involvement, Paul Windle Design was featured on TV and in the press, received an Unsung Hero Award nomination, exhibited at the Festival of Illustration, and hosted their first Open Studio event. Ann secured meetings with key decision makers of global brands such as ITV, Nickelodeon, Discovery Channel and Hasbro, resulting in the company being awarded a major contract with one of the largest toy makers in the world. One of the North East’s longest established creative agencies, Sheridan Design, call upon Ann’s professional bid writing skills to tender for major contracts in the culture, heritage and museum sectors. Successful tender bids include the Great North Greats touring exhibition for Great North Run Culture, NewcastleGateshead Initiative’s corporate communications pack, and the contract to produce the branding, print and digital requirements for the Generation project. Alongside this Ann provides hands-on visual merchandising, design and display services to The Pen Shop retail chain, designer-makers Powder Butterfly, textile artist Lena Archibald, and other product and services providers who are looking to connect with their target audience and increase sales.
